The Scottish baskethilt is about as common an icon as any out there. They are not strictly Scottish, however; many common designs thought to be Scottish are in fact English. This one could be either. This style is seen as early as the beginning of the 1700’s. It is shown in the hammered finish, but looks quite nice in a traditional black patina. It could be used with lighter blades as a thrust-only weapon as well.
The Half-Round pommel is what is normally pictured in period pieces; however, we’ve found that the Modified Barrel pommel is heavier and balances the blade just as well (if not a little better). If you order the Barrel pommel, we’ll automatically modify it to fit a threaded blade.
