Terry Tindill of That Guy’s Gorgets retired in Dec 2020, but he has graciously taught me everything about these gorgets –  from the kind of leathers he preferred to the cheats he used to make the job slightly easier. I use the exact same materials from the same providers, and I’ve taken a lot of Zoom time from him to learn, step by step, how he did them.  ~Lesley

They are made in a Brigandine style with overlapping steel plates sandwiched between two layers of sturdy leather.  The plates are held in position by decorative rivets in several colors. The collar is a stainless steel plate front and back, and it buckles on both sides so you can customize the fit. There is a triangular throat plate in the front as well, but it’s sandwiched in so you don’t see anything but solid-brass rivets that shouldn’t tarnish and stain your clothing inside. If you want a rear cervical (back of neck) plate for HEMA or SCA heavy fighting, please let me know in your email.

The collar changes size with two buckles and the Regular size ranges from 15″ at its smallest, to 21″ at its largest buckle setting. Please try to measure around your neck while you have your fencing gear ON –  a shirt or a doublet collar might need to be part of the measurement! If you have a shorter neck requirement, I can make the neck band shorter in height – please email me for your request. I also make 12-15″ Small and 21-24″ Large gorgets.
