The DA2BR Bated Rapier blade is wider, stiffer and heavier than the DA1PR Practice Rapier. It more accurately represents the weight of many “period” rapier blades, (rather than being a “sport blade” from present times). It can be fullered and/or pierced as well. The tang is the same as a Practice Rapier, though, so you could swap back and forth if needs arise.
The Bated Rapier, though being SCA rapier-legal, is heavier and thicker and good option for SCA Cut and Thrust… it survives much better than any Practice Rapier would.
Shoulder width: 1″ +/- (they are all hand ground, so there’s a bit of variation)

An amazing Rapier blade for the price. I’ve used one that’s seen hard use for about 3 years and it still hold its form to this day. I can say the same for the brand new DA2 blade I’ve ordered for my own Rapier. Same quality as they had years back. Feels properly weighted and functions very well with the system I practice. Many thanks to Darkwood for sending it to me with a day of shipping.
