Simple. And very light. Perfect for making a speedy rapier. I use these guards on my 43′ and 40′ inch rapier blades. Making it nimble and light and comfortable to use. Affordable also. In my fencing experience using this, the rings have protected me from after blow cuts, deflecting blades and cuts. If held correctly in that given situation. You have to be attentive in in sparring or you’ll get your hand sniped. I have seen other fencers adding leather to this light guard for extra hand protection, making leather closed ports.
