This is a Flamberge variation on our Bated rapier blade, with very tight “curves” and 4″ of straight blade at the end to keep it strong and to allow a rubber tip to be firmly placed on the end. It feels like a Bated rapier blade and can be SCA legal in flex! However, because it has no straight “spine” we cannot warranty it against breakage anywhere but at the tang.

I’ve had my eye on this blade for a while now. After getting enough money for a new rapier, I decided to go all in on my order and get something truly special. I started with a 42″ flamberge blade, and got a heavy pommel with a Pappenheimer style hilt. When the rapier arrived, I couldn’t take my eyes off how beautiful this blade was! It has great flex and strength, and the heavy pommel puts the balance point just in front of the guard. My HEMA instructor was cautious about whether or not the shape of the blade would make a hit painful or damage the helmet, but after a full class it was clear that the blade was perfectly usable and a pure joy to wield. Big shoutout to Darkwood Armory for this one, it’s worth the money!
